Saint Vincent de Lamontjoie belongs to the canton of Francescas. Vincentmonjouais is the name given to its inhabitants. The village offers exceptional views of the hills of South Albret and the Pyrenees mountain range.
Built on the ancient Roman site of Veziac, the church of Saint-Vincent was donated to Cluny in 1064 by Hugo de Brulhois and Pierre de Gavarret, according to J. Benaben. Considered too far from the priory of Layrac to which it belonged, it was ceded to the Knights Templar in 1199. The bell tower and the western elevation with three semicircular arches date from the 12th century; sarcophagi were discovered nearby (placed in the cemetery).
In 1802, the parishes of Caubiet, Saint-Lary, and Bonnefond were annexed to it. In 1863, the church was rebuilt according to plans by Verdier, architect of the city of Agen and the 3rd arrondissement: the new building, with a centered layout, was constructed next to the western façade and bell tower of the old church, which were preserved. According to Verdier, the Romanesque decor was inspired by the capitals of the demolished church, two of which were reused in the new building. The porch was rebuilt in 1888. The interior ornamental paintings were restored to their original state in 2002/2003 by the painter, Mrs. BLOT.
