Mézin, the Gascon woman

Mézin, the birthplace of President Fallières, nestled in the heart of Gascony, charms visitors with its authentic charm and peaceful atmosphere. Explore the narrow, winding streets lined with half-timbered houses. They all converge on the beating heart of the village, a cobbled square adorned with arcades and imbued with a medieval atmosphere.

Why visit Mézin?

The Church of Saint John the Baptist

The fortified church is a place of refuge in case of attack. Its circular towers allow the surroundings to be monitored and defend against enemies. Walking along the north side of the square, you enter the church via the main square. From the back of the nave, you walk towards the choir, which was consecrated in 1077.
It took 350 years to complete the building.
Admire the stained glass windows, the organ, and the faces on the pillars, one of which, at the entrance, is said to be Eleanor of Aquitaine.
