Moncrabeau is a charming little village in Gascony. It has been a hub of activity since Gallo-Roman times, as evidenced by the remains of villas discovered in the 19th century (Bapteste and Marcadis, for example).
Known as the capital of liars and grimaces, Moncrabeau is also a land of gourmet traditions from Gascony (prunes, foie gras, confits, melons, Armagnac, Floc de Gascogne, goat cheese, etc.). Etymologically, Moncrabeau comes from the Latin word Mons Crapellus: the Mountain of Goats.
For the record, the people of Moncrabel loved telling jokes. One day, a canon from Condom joined the Moncrabelais and wanted to participate in the jokes that were circulating in the village. So he decided to give everyone the right to tell lies without repercussions. That's when the Brevet des Menteurs (Liar's License) was created. This tradition continues today, and in 1972, the people of Moncrabel decided to create the Académie des Menteurs (Academy of Liars).
