Xaintrailles Castle
The feudal site of Xaintrailles Castle has been known since the 12th century. In the 15th century, Jean Poton de Xaintrailles, Marshal of France, military governor of Aquitaine, and former comrade-in-arms of Joan of Arc, had the current castle built on the foundations of his ancestors' castle, preserving the central keep.
Still inhabited since that time, the castle and its grounds have undergone numerous transformations to adapt to the needs of each century. The moats that surrounded it were filled in and an entrance courtyard was created around 1750. It has been in the same family since 1868, who are committed to preserving its traditions.
Listed as a Historic Monument since 1840, the site can be visited freely, with commentary panels. On Heritage Days Sundays, guided tours of the interior are organized.
